Jaymes Monte picks out the best bet from the opening day's action in the darts...
The Winter Gardens curtain raiser pits one of the most likeable men on the circuit against one of the most loathsome. Co Stompe won over the Alexandra Palace crowd at last year's World Championships with his jovial demeanour and joined the select group of players to have his own song.
As 'Play up Stompe' echoed around Alexandra Palace the Dutchman steamrolled his way through the early rounds to the quarter final where he hit a Phil Taylor-shaped brick wall. However, he has failed to make any significant impact on the tour since.
Lewis on the other hand cannot boast popularity as one of his attributes. What he can lay claim to is an ability to power score as well as the best in the game. Inconsistency is his downfall, and is the reason he still doesn't have a major title to his name, but first round exits are rare for this man and he should progress comfortably here.
Back Adrian Lewis to beat Co Stompe @ [1.6]
