One of the factors that might decide the outcome here is that Carlton are secure in fifth spot, while the Saints would get a home final against Sydney if they win.
If the clash between Carlton and St Kilda at the MCG on Saturday is anything like the last meeting of the teams, we're in for some excitement.
The Round 8 meeting at Etihad Stadium wasn't the highest scoring of affairs, but there was drama right to the siren as the Blues won by three points.
Neither side has any fresh injury worries, with Jarrod Waite (Carlton) and Robert Eddy (Saints) the only players who could conceivably return before the end of the season.
The Blues hope last week's performance against the Hawks was a blip. They were restricted to just one goal in the first half, and eventually lost by 12 points at Etihad Stadium.
Previously, they had won four in a row against the Bombers, Kangaroos, Demons and Dockers. Only North Melbourne managed to get within 20 points of them, and the wins over Melbourne and Essendon were blow-outs.
The Saints badly needed a win last weekend against the Kangaroos, having lost two straight against Collingwood and Sydney. And they were up to the mark, winning by 65 points.
One of the factors that might decide the outcome here is that Carlton are secure in fifth spot, while the Saints would get a home final against Sydney if they win.
The Blues can be backed at 1.78 in match odds betting, while the Saints are at 2.25.
