Eagles hard to tackle out West

...the narrow Patersons Stadium suits the Eagles forward press to a tee, and they have only lost once there this year, back in round 3.

In the semi-final out west, Andy Morris sees the selection of Dean Cox as handing West Coast a major boost with their big date with Carlton.

The veteran ruckman had back spasms last weekend, but scans cleared him and he should be able to play to his potential.

Daniel Kerr's place in the semi-final was also assured after he suffered a back problem and missed last week.

In contrast, Carlton have had little luck. Bryce Gibbs and Matthew Kreuzer, their No.1 draft picks, are out with a shoulder and foot problem respectively.

Ruckman Shaun Hampson, who kicked six goals in the VFL last weekend, may be a chance.

The Eagles suffered a disappointing 20-point loss to the Magpies last week, though they were only seven points down heading into time on, while Carlton were winners over the Bombers by 62 points. The Blues kicked 10 goals in succession, to chalk up their first finals win in a decade.

The Eagles also haven't won a final since 2006, so they don't have a distinct advantage.
But the narrow Patersons Stadium suits their forward press to a tee, and they have only lost once there this year, back in round 3.

The Blues haven't lost on the road this year, so they're sure to keep it tight, but it could come down to the fact that they have been hit harder by injury problems.

The Eagles are 1.49 in match odds betting, while Carlton are 3.0.
