Cats to take the cream

Geelong have had good luck with injuries, and Joel Corey has a chance to return after a month on the sidelines with a groin injury.

Despite the Eagles remarkable turnaround in 2011, given they come up against a virtually unbeatable Cats, Andy Morris can't see that miracle taking West Coast to a Grand Final.

Geelong will be supremely confident of making another trip to the Grand Final as they take on West Coast at the MCG.

Though they lost by eight points to the Eagles in round 16, that was at Patersons Stadium against a West Coast team coming off a bye.

Geelong have had good luck with injuries, and Joel Corey has a chance to return after a month on the sidelines with a groin injury.

The Eagles hope, but don't expect, that Matt Rosa will be passed fit after his recovery from a ligament strain has been stepped up in the past week.

The Cats were in a difficult situation after losing to Sydney in round 22. They knew they had a bye to come, then a tough final game against the Magpies. But they beat Collingwood by 96 points at the MCG and then overcame the Hawks in the qualifying final a fortnight ago.

West Coast needed to bounce back strongly after their qualifying final defeat to the Pies, and just about made it through their big test against the Blues last week.

Forward Josh Kennedy was instrumental in that win, battling back after a nasty clash of heads in the opening term. Despite playing with one good eye, Kennedy kicked three crucial goals from ten disposals and six marks.

The Eagles have won only one of their past eight at the venue and in truth they have already overachieved this season, given their wooden spoon in 2010.

Geelong are 1.22 in match odds betting, with the Eagles being 5.4.
