The Saints' win was marred by a record-breaking suspension meted out to Stevie Baker by the match review committee.

Part two of the split round AFL wrap, care of Andy Morris.

St Kilda held Geelong at bay when the two leading sides met in the first of the three remaining games of Round 13.

The Saints went on to win the game by a margin of 24 points, holding the Cats goal-less for the entire second half, as they closed the gap on the reigning premiers with a 10.10 (70) to 6.10 (46) victory.

Despite a 16-point half-time lead, the Cats were unable to hold on as the Saints fired off six unanswered goals, to leave the Premiers goalless in a second half for the first time since 2001.

The Saints' win was marred by a record-breaking suspension meted out to Stevie Baker by the match review committee. The Cats accepted much lighter bans on players Stevie Johnson and Cam Mooney, whereas the Saints are going on to contest the ban on Baker.

Collingwood asserted its dominance over Sydney with a 25-point victory, which sees the Magpies' winning run against the Swans extend to nine games and means outgoing coach Paul Roos chance to get a win over the Pies is now done and dusted.

The victory means the Magpies climb to third position after another classy outing had them dispatch the Swans, 13.18 (96) to 10.11 (71).

A newly-inspired Adelaide had a solid victory over Melbourne at home, allowing the Crows to move from the foot of the ladder, and seeing the Demons' fading finals hopes dealt another blow.

The Crows punished the Demons' slack defence to secure a 44-point victory.

Only a stronger third quarter from the Demons threatened to halt the Crows' domination, but six final-quarter goals assured Adelaide's fourth win of the season, 16.21 (117) to 11.7 (73), and in all probability ensured Neil Craig's ongoing stewardship of the side into 2011.
