Feathers and Fur to fly

...the simple fact is Geelong have gotten the best of Collingwood this year and there is no reason they can’t complete the sweep on Saturday.

In what will no doubt be a scrap up of feathers and fur, Nick Tedeschi brings you his take on how the 2011 AFL Grand Final will play out this weekend when the Cats meet the Pies.

GEELONG (v Collingwood)

2 units at match odds of $1.72
1 unit Under 39.5 in margin market at $2.30

Excuses have been made for Collingwood's two defeats at the hands of Geelong this year.

When the Cats won by three in round eight the umpires were blamed for disallowing a Scott Pendlebury goal.

And then when the Cats won again in the final match of the home and away season, this time by 96 points, the excuse offered was that Mick Malthouse was not interested in winning with the minor premiership already secured.

The Pies have lost only twice this year but both times have been to Geelong, a team that has rolled them in 7 of their last 10 contests. Over the last month, it has been Geelong who have been playing like champions, while the Pies have battled. The best team to compare against are West Coast: the Pies struggled to kick clear three weeks back while the Cats decimated them last Saturday.

The Cats win the ruck battle and Chris Scott is tactically adept enough to avoid being forced to play down the middle as the Magpies would prefer. Collingwood are too good to write-off, but the simple fact is Geelong have gotten the best of Collingwood this year and there is no reason they can't complete the sweep on Saturday.

Norm Smith Medal: ANDREW MACKIE
0.25 units at NS Medal odds of $31.00

Geelong defender Andrew Mackie has been in special form of late and looks a triple overlay at this stage.

Mackie was the best on ground in Geelong's preliminary final win against West Coast with 27 touches and 11 marks. He has hit 20-plus possessions in 12 of his last 15 matches and has had six-plus marks in 8 of his last 13.

If Mackie gets a free run as the spare man out back then he is every chance of collecting another best-on at very big odds.
