After waiting 43 years for their second ever flag the St. Kilda faithful will finally get what they have so long desired this Saturday afternoon, writes Nick Tedeschi.
Grand Final week has been all about Geelong this year. This in spite of the fact St. Kilda finished on top of the ladder, spent most of the year undefeated and actually beat the Cats in their only regular season match.
It started with the Cats domination of Collingwood on Saturday night, continued on through Gary Ablett's dominant Brownlow Medal victory and has kept up as talk centered on the exceptional team Geelong have been over the last three seasons.
The media haven't been the only one's focusing on Geelong. Bookmakers and layers have opened the Cats up short and punters have done nothing but bet Geelong all week.
All this could not suit St. Kilda any more. They have been the best team all year and the spotlight isn't shining on them. They are sneaking below the radar, pressure free.
This is but one reason to get on board the Saints this Saturday. There are plenty more.
The weather is expected to be wet, windy and wild. They are the perfect conditions for the Saints high pressure defence to dominate in.
The Saints hold a mental edge over the Cats having defeated them throughout the regular season. Combined with Geelong's need to win this premiership to confirm the last three year period of success as a dynasty, St. Kilda go into the decider calmer and more relaxed.
The Saints are also blessed with a number of quality taggers who can minimize the impact of Geelong's star midfield.
The Saints can be tried in all markets with St. Kilda to win a close one the way to wager.
